MITCH BROWN CONTINUES TO POST STRONG RUNS IN SPRINT CARS

Wednesday - May - 2013

Younger brother Jacob still experiencing early season struggles in Thunder Stocks

Mitch Brown enjoyed another successful weekend of racing last Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway with a solid seventh-place won in the Corr/Pak-sponsored Sprint Car A-main and a fourth-place finish is his qualifier.

He then headed stateside to compete in the Patriot Sprint Tour event at Eriez Speedway (Erie, PA) on Sunday where he chased 2012 Canadian PST series champion Justin Barger to the checkered flag in his qualifier then drove his #10 Haldex/Pro-Fit Health Club/Strodes BBQ & Deli/Leitch Performance Engines/Brown Auto Service Sprinter to a career high fifth-place A-Main finish on American soil.

The team will be back in action Friday night at Ohsweken where Mitch is currently third in the Sprint Car standings.

Last Friday at Ohsweken, track owner Glenn Styres made it two wins in a row in the 20-lap A-Main grabbing the lead when early leader Dave Dykstra experienced some mechanical issues and was forced to the infield. With Dykstra sidelined, Styres out-maneuvered Tom Huppunen (who had inherited the lead on the restart) to move into second place then made the winning move around Jim Huppunen to claim the victory.

In Thunder Stocks action, Jake Brown was experiencing handling problems in his Port Dover Auto Parts and Performance/Strodes Express/APC/Brown Auto Service Monte Carlo. He finished a strong second in his qualifying heat but couldn’t find the right line in the A-Feature finishing a distant 16th in the 22-car starting field.
