STRONG WEEKEND RUNS FOR MITCH BROWN IN SPRINT CAR RACING CIRCLES

Second Place at Ohsweken Speedway Followed by Third Place Finish at South Buxton
Brantford’s Mitch Brown extended his string of solid runs in the Southern Ontario Sprints series this past weekend with a steady second place finish Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway and followed it up with a tight third place run Saturday night at South Buxton Speedway near Chatham ON on Saturday.
On Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway the fifth-year Sprint Car competitor started on the outside pole beside Adam West of Ridgetown, ON in the A-Main feature event. But it was third-place starter Steve Collins a Family Physician out of Belfast, NY who grabbed the lead before the end of the first lap and was never headed in his run to his first feature win in any form of motorsport.
Brown moved quickly to get around West to take up the pursuit of the early leader but was unable to chase down Collins through the final laps of the 25-lap special.
In his qualifying heat the Brantford speedster was awarded the Nathan Ackland State Farm Insurance “Top Gun” Award for the high score in heat race passing points moving from his eighth place starting spot to second in the eight-lap chase.
On Saturday night at the 3/8th-mile South Buxton D-shaped oval, Brown came home third behind Ohsweken’s Glenn Styres and second-place runner Justin Martin of St. Thomas. The Brantford driver’s third place run was decided in a photo-finish over local favourite Kyle Patrick of Tilbury, ON.
In six Southern Ontario Sprints events held through July 5th, the driver of the Haldex/Sit’ N Bull Tires/ Pro-Fit Health Club/ Leitch Performance Engines/Strodes BBQ & Deli sprinter has five top-four A-Main finishes including two wins both at Brighton Speedway.
Brown currently sits second in points at both Ohsweken Speedway in the Corr/Pak Packaging seasonal Sprint Car standings and in the SOS series both led by Glenn Styres.
Jake Brown Continues To Impress in Crate Engine Division at Ohsweken.
Rookie Jake Brown handily won his qualifying heat on Friday night at Ohsweken and appeared headed for a strong late race charge in the division feature. But with the laps winding down he spun while trying to avoid a stopped car and had to restart at the back of the field finishing eighth in the 15-lap race.
Both brothers will be back at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday night (July 11th) to continue their efforts in pursuit of the championships in their respective divisions.
